Cartagena de Indias, Colombia – IOCARIBE is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Marko Tosic as its new Programme Specialist. In this role, he will lead the Sub-Commission’s capacity development programme and head the newly established Decade Coordination Office (DCO) for the Tropical Americas and Caribbean Region.

Dr. Tosic is an accomplished environmental scientist with over 20 years of experience as a researcher and project manager in the Caribbean region. His expertise spans coastal pollution, water quality, ocean forecasting, and bridging the gap between science and policy. Throughout his career, he has led multi-disciplinary marine science initiatives that integrate capacity building and stakeholder engagement, resulting in science-based contributions to international, national, and local policy processes.
In his new role at IOCARIBE, Dr. Tosic will play a key part in advancing regional collaboration, enhancing technical and scientific capacity, and coordinating actions in support of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
His leadership brings strategic vision and renewed momentum to IOCARIBE’s efforts to foster inclusive, knowledge-based ocean governance and support a healthier, more sustainable ocean across the Caribbean and Tropical Americas.
