A production of the Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA), the State of the Marine Environment (SOME) Report 2016 provides a scientifically grounded understanding of the condition of some of Trinidad and Tobago's important coastal and marine ecosystems, habitats and species. It also details how the status of these resources have been and are being affected by the range of natural and human pressures to which they are subjected. This report provides a snapshot of the state of Trinidad and Tobago's marine environment for 2016.

Becoming operational in 1978, the IMA is the only multi-disciplinary coastal, marine and environmental research organization in CARICOM established to conduct inter-disciplinary studies.
