The Ocean Decade Secretariat has launched Call for Decade Actions No. 10/2025, focused on promoting initiatives that strengthen the connection between science, public policy, and society to advance more sustainable and effective ocean governance. This call seeks programs, projects, and contributions that offer transformative solutions aligned with the challenges of the Decade, ensuring that scientific knowledge is translated into concrete decisions and actions that benefit marine ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.

The call also reinforces the priorities of the Barcelona Declaration and encourages the participation of diverse actors, including institutions, coastal communities, grassroots organizations, research centers, and governments, with special attention to developing and traditionally underrepresented regions. Likewise, proposals are expected to contribute to the advancement of global frameworks such as the BBNJ Agreement, and to the legacy that the Decade will present at the Rio de Janeiro Conference in 2027.

• Sybmission expression of interest for Decade Programs: December 5, 2025

• Submission of applications for Decade Projects and Ocean Decade Contributions: January 31, 2026
