Resumen

The Third IOCARIBE-GOOS Working Group Meeting brings together regional and international experts to review advancements in ocean observing, forecasting systems, and coastal resilience. The session focuses on working group coordination, the review of reports on glider deployments, and presentations from the Ocean Decade Collaborative Centers (DCC) dedicated to Coastal Resilience and Ocean Prediction. Additionally, it highlights the importance of regional partnerships, reflected in the collaboration with the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) and updates from the ICG Caribe Early Warning System Sea Level Network and GLOSS.

Discussions address key regional initiatives, such as exemplars for monitoring tropical cyclones using the Caribbean Glider Fleet and a regional plan for marine heatwaves. Likewise, the framework covers the expansion of the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) infrastructure, incorporating updates on SoFarOcean, the Fishing Vessel Observing Network (FVON), and the implementation of SMART Cables. The program includes an interactive dialogue and the collaborative development of a regional action plan aimed at strengthening data accessibility and oceanographic infrastructure.
