In person meeting of the IOCARIBE Marine Spatial Planning Task Team (MSP-TT)
11
Resumen
The first meeting of the IOCARIBE Marine Spatial Planning Task Team aims to bring together, for the first time, participants involved in MSP efforts across the region. During this initial gathering, members will become familiar with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) mandate and gain an understanding of IOCARIBE programmes that directly support or intersect with Marine Spatial Planning. This shared orientation will help establish a common foundation for collaboration and future work. The meeting also seeks to introduce participants to the current portfolio of IOCARIBE MSP activities, outlining ongoing initiatives, achievements, and challenges in the region.
Additionally, the meeting seeks to advance capacity‑building and training planning by reviewing the draft assessment of capacity‑building opportunities and introducing upcoming MSP training activities, including the biodiversity and climate‑smart inclusive MSP session in Santa Marta. Participants will also engage in selecting the Coordinator(s) for the MSP‑TT, address any additional relevant matters, and agree on decisions and action points to guide the team’s next steps.
