MSPglobal 2.0 Online Kick-off Conference

The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC-UNESCO) and the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission (DG MARE) are delighted to invite you to the Online Kick-off Conference of the new phase of the MSPglobal Initiative on Wednesday 6 September 2023 from 10:00 to 13:00 (Paris time)!

The project “Supporting the global implementation of international marine/maritime spatial planning guidelines” (MSPglobal 2.0) will contribute to the target 14.2 of the SDG14, i.e., sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems, particularly through Marine Spatial Planning.

MSPglobal 2.0 is designed to implement some of the actions of the Updated Joint Roadmap to accelerate Marine/Maritime Spatial Planning processes worldwide MSProadmap (2022-2027). At the global level, tools complementary to the MSPglobal Guide will be co-developed and new capacity development and awareness opportunities will be created. At regional level, the project will focus on transboundary pilots in the Gulf of Guinea and the Western Pacific regions to provide support towards institutionally strengthened MSP processes.

MSPglobal 2.0 is co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) of the European Union.
