Résumé
The Seventeenth Intergovernmental Session of the IOC Sub-Commission for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (SC-IOCARIBE-XVII) will be held from 9 to 11 May, 2023 thanks to the kind invitation of the Government of Colombia, in Bogota, Colombia. This Session will be preceded by the International Marine Science Conference on IOCARIBE-GOOS to be held on the same venue on May 8, 2023. The Session will review the implementation and development of the IOCARIBE activities since the last session of the Sub-Commission (virtual session) held on May 3 – 6, 2021 in Cartagena, Colombia and will examine the state of implementation of the approved Recommendations.
The Session agenda will focus on essential issues requiring attention, guidance, and collective actions of IOC Member States in the region. After briefly reviewing the progress of the Sub-commission during the last intersessional period since May 2021, the session will consider the latest developments at the global level with regard to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030) and strategic developments of the IOC. The Sub-Commission will further deliberate on its commitment and contribution to the Ocean Decade and to the realization of the IOC Medium-term Strategy (2022–2029). The Sub-Commission will formulate its work plan and budget for the biennium 2024–2025 and elect its Officers.
The Sub-Commission will formulate a new work plan and will elect its Board of Officers for the next Biennium.
