Résumé

Objectives

To address the capacity development needs for enhancing storm surge and tsunami forecasting and alert services to strengthen coastal multi-hazard resilience and support emergency preparedness and response, as well as to promote exchanges and collaboration between national agencies in technological advancement, disaster management and early warning services.

i.     Introduction to latest developments in storm surge and tsunami forecasting systems

ii.    Global storm surge forecast products and tsunami advisory products

iii.   Optimal design of tsunami observation network and use of tsunami observations in forecasting and early warning

iv.   Recent developments in model simulations of non-seismic tsunamis

v.    Tools for strengthening of coastal hazard risk governance

vi.   Use of Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) in local/regional warning dissemination and global sharing on WMO Severe Weather Information Centre 3.0

vii.  Sharing of experience among the participants

viii. Hands-on session on model simulation of a storm surge case or a tsunami case upon selection by the participants
