UNESCO–IOC opens call for a Junior Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) Consultant

UNESCO–IOC, in coordination with IOCARIBE, seeks a Junior MSP Consultant to support the PROCARIBE+ project and advance marine spatial planning efforts in Colombia, the Dominican Republic and the Wider Caribbean.

UNESCO–IOC announces the call for a Junior Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) Consultant under the PROCARIBE+ project, working closely with the IOCARIBE Sub-Commission. The consultant will support marine spatial planning processes, regional coordination, capacity-building activities and technical contributions across Colombia, the Dominican Republic and additional IOCARIBE Member States.

Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation of the Rapid Assessment Methodology (RAM), coordinating national and regional workshops, engaging institutional stakeholders, collaborating with governments and international partners, and contributing to technical reports and communication outputs related to MSP.

The required profile includes a Master’s degree in environmental sciences, oceanography or international relations; experience in marine planning, ocean management or climate-related work; fluency in English and Spanish; and strong capacity to coordinate regional technical activities. The contract covers 11 months (1 February – 31 December 2026), remote-based, with potential travel within the Caribbean region.
