At 15:00 UTC, more than 700,000 registered participants took part in the annual exercise organised by UNESCO/IOC Intergovernmental Coordination Group for Tsunamis and Other Coastal Hazards for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (ICG/CARIBE-EWS).

International Tsunami Information Center Caribbean Office (ITIC-CAR) officials, like manager Christa von Hillebrandt-Andrade, worked alongside PTWC staff and analysts of the Puerto Rico Seismic Network to carry out a simulation based on disturbances caused in the Puerto Rico Trench.

As part of an effort to provide inclusive tsunami safety resources, orientation on tsunamis was given to the visually impaired population, including a Safety Rules flyer in braille.

CARIBE WAVE Exercises strongly support the objectives of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction target and Early Warnings for All initiative.
