Free webinar to present the findings of a recently completed Technical and Economic Feasibility Study of using Sargassum for Anaerobic Digestion
We are delighted to invite you to a free webinar hosted by Daniel Gray from The Caribbean Council and Dr Michelle Morrison from the UK Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) on Wednesday 25 January, 11:00 Eastern Time (15:00GMT).
This free one-hour webinar will present the findings of a recently completed Technical and Economic Feasibility Study of using Sargassum for Anaerobic Digestion, which is a low cost waste-to-energy process widely used in Europe and the US for organic material.
Covering St Lucia and Grenada, the study was funded by the UK FCO Prosperity Fund.
A Q&A will follow, giving participants an opportunity to field questions to Dr Morrison and Mr Gray regarding the outcomes of the study, which included the following:
- Anaerobic Digestion (AD) offers a unique, circular and integrated solution to several challenges facing the OECS including the disposal of waste biomass and sargassum, sewage treatment, and renewable energy production.
- Preliminary economic modelling, based on literature and estimated values for inputs, suggests that the adoption of anaerobic digestion technology as a means of addressing these issues could deliver positive returns on investment, though there would need to be some level of financial support for proposed AD schemes
